Jason North

With more than 20 years of experience in occupational hygiene and environmental consultancy, Jason is passionate about empowering and supporting asbestos and hazardous materials professionals and stakeholders. As a founding member and present President of the AHCA, he represents and advocates for the industry and provides opportunities for knowledge sharing, best practice, and collaboration.

Jason has led and mentored multiple teams and businesses in delivering high-quality services and solutions to clients across various sectors, including government, infrastructure, transport, utilities, and industrials. Jason has a strong track record of initiating, facilitating, and achieving ISO and NATA accreditations, standard operating procedures, tenders and panels, and risk management strategies.

The AHCA is an opportunity by those working within the consulting industry, along with their clients and regulators, to come together to find support and share their stories, experience, and knowledge with others. In so doing, the AHCA provides a pathway for collaboration between consultants, clients, regulators, and the public.

David Springer

David is the National Commercial Manager of Envirolab Group, with over 30 years’ experience in analytical laboratories.

He is an active member of the scientific community, being a Fellow & past Board Member of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI), a NATA technical assessor and member of the NATA MAF ( Members Advisory Forum).

David is a NSW EPA Appointed Analyst and is the current President of the dormant Environmental Laboratories Industry Group (ELIG) and has previously represented ELIG on various Australian Standards and NEPM committees.

His current interests are in PFAS compounds in consumer goods and laboratory and consultant fraud prevention.

David is passionate about raising the bar in our important industry, and looks forward to continuing this task with the likeminded AHCA community.

Cassandra Fernandez

Cassandra has close to ten years’ experience within the hazardous materials industry and, as a senior consultant with Greencap, Cassandra has strong practical experience in project management, asbestos and hazardous materials surveys and material risk assessments in a large variety of fields including both friable and non-friable projects. Cassandra is also an approved signatory through the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) Australia under International Standards Organisation (ISO) certification for asbestos fibre counting, volumetric measurement and the identification of asbestos in bulk samples. Effectively undertaking and executing numerous asbestos and hazardous material surveys, inspections and asbestos hygiene experience on various sites throughout Australia including the power and energy sector, government infrastructure, major development projects, the health and school sectors and numerous residential and commercial properties.

Jai Choi

Finance Director at Property Risk Australia with more than 20 years of experience from Professional Service firms, HVAC wholesale/warehousing and Building materials supply/import businesses.

Worked as management accountant and systems accountant analysing and reporting on business data. Through this experience, I’ve gained deep insight into the operations and I love contributing to a better outcome for all involved in the business. I am passionate about the numbers, data and technology. I am a current member of CPA and ACID.

Kris Thomas

Kris is the Managing Director of EP Risk Management Pty Ltd and a Principal Environmental Scientist with over 20 years of international consulting experience in the areas of contaminated land managementrisk assessment, asbestos in soils remediation, hazardous materials and occupational hygiene. Kris has extensive project management experience with a track record of successful delivery of State Significant Development / Infrastructure projects in NSW. Kris has worked across a wide range of sectors including Defence, oil and gas, civil contracting, landfill, property development as well as local, state and federal government departments.

Jason Adams

Jason Adams has 13 years of experience in local government working for Blue Mountains City Council. He spent over half of this time leading BMCC to become a leader in asbestos management and response within local government.

In recent years, Jason has been pivotal in shaping and rolling out BMCC’s asbestos and hazardous materials management framework. His profound expertise has led to invitations to speak at both local, state and national platforms. Constantly pushing for excellence, he ensures the well-being of both the workforce and the community.

As an emerging leader and pioneer in asbestos management within local government, Jason passionately champions for enhanced guidance and resources, enabling councils to adeptly navigate compliance and WHS mandates and responsibilities.

Dylan Handley

Dylan is a dedicated professional with over 12 years of experience in the environmental services industry. Driven by a passion for industry best practice, Dylan’s career journey has included roles in analytical chemistry, occupational hygiene consultancy, and his most recent role as NSW Operations Manager of Corvex Hazmat, an emerging hazardous material removal company.

Dylan’s multifaceted expertise has placed him well to provide innovative solutions to project and industry challenges. With a firm belief in the power of collaboration, Dylan has built teams within different sectors of the industry and upholds a culture of growth, teamwork and innovation to promote industry best practice. The AHCA provides a platform for industry stakeholders to collaborate and share experiences and knowledge.
