Nigel Johnson

Nigel is a Licensed Asbestos Assessor with more than 20 years of experience in asbestos, occupational hygiene, environment and health and safety. Nigel has worked in consulting across commercial and residential high rise, gas works, remediation sites, ships/vessels, schools, hospitals, houses, industrial plants and shopping centres in NSW, QLD, VIC, SA, TAS, WA, New Zealand and Singapore. Nigel is also the Managing Director of Property Risk Australia (PRA).

Jason North

Jason has more than 20 years experience within the consulting industry. Starting as an “environmental consultant” undertaking asbestos air monitoring in the aftermath of the Sydney hail storm of 14 April 1999 his experience has evolved into being a consultant, technician, laboratory manager, projects manager, business development manager, director, team leader and development executive.

Jason has worked and assisted on many small and large projects for clients predominantly from within the Australian Government and Commercial sectors during his time.

Jason has identified a gap within the consulting industry. The hope is that the AHCA shall fill that gap by providing opportunities to professionals within the industry to raise awareness, knowledge and drive best practice.

John Batty

John has more than 15 years experience in asbestos and hazardous materials management along with occupational hygiene and environmental consulting and is the Managing Director of EDP Consultants. John is passionate about the management of asbestos and hazardous building materials and ensuring that the health and safety of workers and the greater community is paramount. During his years in the industry he has worked with asbestos removal contractors, government agencies, facilities managers, construction companies and private home owners on large and small projects. At all times trying to provide pragmatic solutions that will ensure the safety of works and occupants while balancing potential cost pressures.

As a founding member of the AHCA, John recognised a need to have like minded professions come together to drive best practice in the industry to ensure a consistent, quality approach to managing hazardous materials at all levels.

Fraser Elder

Treasurer

Fraser is the State Manager at EDP Consultants Pty Ltd and possesses over 20 years’ experience in hazardous materials, occupational hygiene, and environmental management gained both in Australia and the United Kingdom. During Fraser’s 20 years in the industry, he has gained proficiency in many areas of asbestos and hazardous materials which includes surveys, management of asbestos and hazardous materials remediation inclusive of developing removal control plans, site supervision, asbestos fibre and lead dust air monitoring and clearance inspections and reporting. As a subject matter expert and expert witness in asbestos, Fraser has developed a sound understanding of asbestos in its health effects, uses and associated risks.

Leroy Brown

Leroy is an Environmental Engineer and Occupational Hygienist with over 13 years’ experience in the industry and is currently employed as an Occupational Hygienist for Lend Lease managing the Western Sydney Region. I am a passionate advocate for preserving the health of workers, with experience in mining, tunnels, engineering and construction. I accepted a position on the AHCA Executive Board in the hope to give back to the industry. I want to use my knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to help the AHCA gain traction and develop into an Association that helps support our members (Asbestos and Hazardous Materials Professionals) achieve their career goals.

Simon Butterfield

Simon has 30 years experience in providing expert consulting advice to clients in the fields of asbestos, hazardous materials, occupational hygiene, workplace health & safety (WHS) and contamination sites. He has broad and extensive experience in project management of asbestos & hazardous materials surveys and large scale asbestos removal projects, undertaken exposure assessments, delivered nationally accredited asbestos courses and has been an expert witness on a number of asbestos removal, natural occurring asbestos (NOA) and WHS-related matters. Simon is currently a Principal Consultant at RiskTech.

Dr. Peggy Trompf

Peggy is a consulting third-party occupational hygienist, peer reviewer and workplace health advisor, and is the director of Industrial Health Matters. She has worked in the field for over 30 years. Her previous background in industrial social science and her long standing industrial experience provides a broad perspective to a multi-faceted workforce. She is a specialist in large scale commercial and civil construction, providing ongoing third-party advice to major projects such as Barangaroo, Crown Casino, Australian Technology Park, Western Sydney Airport and NorthConnex tunnel, among others.
